EditChore

This is one of the most important and most used areas of ChoreBuster, and becoming familiar with it is vital to making the most of ChoreBuster.

The EditChore page is divided up into two secions: Basic options and Advanced options

Basic options

The most useful features of this screen is the chore name and how often it occurs. The chore name is what is used in the chore schedule, and how often the chore occurs determines the frequency with which the chore repeats; set this to 1 and it will be done every day, 3 for every 3 days, and so on.

The start date is only important for certain chores, such as taking out the trash, when they need to be done on the same day each week. If the day the trash gets taken out is a monday, then set the start date to be next monday (or any monday, really) and then set how often the chore occurs to be 7.

The rating of a chore is very useful, as it is used to make sure that everyone gets the same amount of work given to them. For example, someone will need to do several 'easy' chores to make up for someone else doing just one 'extreme' chore.

When you assign a rating to a chore, it means that chore is worth a certain number of points.

Whenever someone is assigned a chore, they are given the amount of points which that chore is worth. ChoreBuster makes sure that everyone has an even amount of points by always giving the 'next' chore to the person with the lowest total score.

The amount of points each rating is worth is outlined below.

Rating Points
Nothing 0
Easy 1
Fairly Easy 2
Normal 3
Above Normal 4
Hard 5
Extreme 7

If you have set someone to get less chores in the EditPerson screen, then the number of points they get for doing a chore is increased, so that other people need to do more chores to 'keep up'.

Advanced options

If you have given everyone the same day off in the EditPerson screen, then chores which fall on that day will have no one available to do them. So you need to specify whether this chore is moved to the next day or ignored, in that situation. People who do not have 'no chore' days will never encounter this scenario, so don't need to think about this...

Some chores are not suitable for everone in the household. You can put a tick beside the people who should NOT do the chore. They will be given other chores to compensate.

Specifying a room for the chore is useful when printing and when sorting the chores in the ChangingChores screen. If you have many many chores it is a bit easier to manage the chores if they are broken down into groups. People with less than 50 chores may find the rooms feature a bit useless.
